Our emotions hold our biggest clues. I like to pay my bills as soon as they come in, rather than wait until they are due. It feels good to me to do that. I like when my customers pay their bills promptly too, that feels good. I like feeling good, and so I make sure that I always pay them straight away to keep that energy going in my life. This week I felt something that I had not really focused on before. I had an emotion when I payed a bill and it didn't feel good. I recognised that I always have this same emotion when paying bills, but because it didn't seem to make any sense I had been ignoring the emotion. It was very fleeting after all. But this week I felt it and I decided to focus on it. The emotion felt bad. I allowed myself to feel it fully in order to put that emotion into words. It felt like I was being a naughty little girl and I would be told off for paying my bills! What is that all about? I asked myself and I asked my guides. No answer came right away but as I chatted to a friend about it the answer popped up in the conversation. When I was a child I really really really wanted a BMX. I would buy BMX magazines and spend so much time looking at the pictures of the Mongoose that I really wanted. I was determined to have a BMX. I asked my parents for one, but they wouldn't get me one. I was still determined to have a BMX. A boy at school, Ryan, told me that he was getting a new BMX, I asked him what he would do with his old one, he said he didn't know. I asked could I buy it from him. He said yes. I had already saved up most of the money for it, from my pocket money, so I gave him that money and told him I would give him my next 2 weeks pocket money too and then he could give me his old bike. I finished paying for it and on the day that he came to deliver it to my house, he turned up red faced with his parents. They wanted to talk to my parents. We both got told off for what we had done. No explanation was given for what we did wrong, we were just told that we shouldn't have done it. I was confused. As a child I learned that it's wrong to pay people for things. I still really really really wanted a BMX. So I started to save my money again (I hadn't got my money back from my previous purchase) and I bought part after part from my local bike shop and started to turn my shopper bike into a BMX piece by piece. Apparently it was ok for me to buy things from shops, but not from other people. Ever since being told off for paying for something that I wanted when I was a child I have felt like a naughty girl for paying anything to anybody. It didn't make sense. It still doesn't make sense. We must have hurt the adults egos for them to react in that way. It was about them, not about us. Ryan and I weren't friends after that incident. We both hurt from it and felt bad to be around each other. There was more we lost that day than the security of knowing that it's ok to pay money to people, we lost faith in each other as well as ourselves. Ryan died young before we ever got a chance to heal this between us, although I'm sure he was with me in spirit last week helping me to understand the experience we both had. Thanks Ryan! This week's best life tip is to face your emotions, question them. Don't let a negative emotion stay with you without the light of awareness being shone on it. Named must your fear be before banish it you can. ~ Yoda I'm Claire Louise Hay, I help you claim your true power to manifest the life of your dreams through self-awareness and alignment with your higher self. The New Year sees so many of us making resolutions to make healthy changes in our lives many of which require us to eliminate something that has been a part of our lives for a long time. But how many new years resolutions are broken by the end of January? Let's make sure that this doesn't happen this year by changing the way we think about these resolutions or eliminations! Don't stop it, swap it! You want to eat more healthily and decide to cut certain foods out of your diet. Sounds great! But as soon as you want those foods again, if you haven't thought of an alternative to allow yourself, then you will fall at this hurdle. So instead of your new years resolution being "I will stop eating cake." turn it into "I will swap cake for fruit." You will be able to keep this one up. I have learned about what certain inflammatory foods are doing to my body and have decided to eliminate gluten, soy, dairy, peanuts, eggs, corn, sugar and most carbohydrates from my diet to allow my digestive system to heal. Most are easy because I eliminated them long ago, but some - namely gluten, eggs and carbs needed to be replaced by something else, or I would go hungry and cave in! So I learned about the paleo diet, and learned from JJ Virgin's new book The Virgin Diet (which I highly recommend) and now I know what I should have on my plate. I switched my carbs for very small portions of brown rice and increased my protein (organic meat) and good fat (coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, avocados) intake so that I don't feel like I'm missing anything, apart from the weight that is dropping off me and the lack of horrible inflammatory symptoms like bloating, bumpy skin, wind, painful gut,... and I'm loving missing those! Would you rather ...? The other thing that I wanted to change was my alcohol drinking habits. I had been using alcohol to switch off from work, something I used to find hard to do without it. But since I accepted that it was better to use alcohol than to never switch off, I have been able to give myself more time off and now I no longer have the excuse that I need alcohol to switch off from work. So Jarrod and I decided that when it came to alcohol we would always ask ourselves and each other this question: "Would you rather have wine or save that money and go out for a great meal at the end of the week?" "Would you rather have wine or save that money and go away for a city break each month?" We are honest with each other about the amount of money that we would have spent on alcohol and we put that amount of money in a cocktail shaker (it seemed more appropriate than a jar!). Now we will make conscious decisions on spending that money on something we'd much rather do with it. Click here to find out how! We all have beliefs around what is expected of us, and these beliefs leave us with a sense of duty for others. This sense of duty can keep us in relationships and experiences that do not serve us. This sense of duty makes it impossible for us to release those things that we really should release. It's important to know that you are a creator spirit here to create within your own life alone. You are here to learn, to grow and to manifest whatever you want within your life. You have not been put on this planet to help everyone else, you do not have a duty to do anything for anyone else, you cannot create in anyone else's experiences no matter how hard you try. You only have a duty to yourself. This false sense of duty keeps us attached to people who are not aligned with ourselves, and in doing so we hold ourselves back from our next steps. It's ok to let go, release the sense of duty for others and focus on yourself. There is a misconception going around that giving makes us happy. Giving doesn't make us happy. Giving can make us happy, it can also make us resentful, giving in and of itself is not the cause of happiness, it is as balanced in the benefits and drawbacks as everything else is in life. What does bring us happiness is being aligned with our spirits, living our passion, sharing our passion and when you are doing that, you will not only be happy but you will be sharing your true gifts with the world and will be giving and receiving so much more than could ever be possible by just giving. Allow yourself to align with your life's purpose. Allow yourself to focus on that instead of on other people. Allow yourself to release any false sense of duty or responsibility to others. Allow them to be empowered and responsible for their own lives instead. Be selfish for a while and before long you will find yourself sharing more of yourself than ever. Click here to find out how! Our brains recognise patterns. Once a pattern becomes a habit our brains no longer pass the information to our consciousness. This means that we can easily overlook the things that don't change in our lives. We just don't see them, we aren't aware of them anymore. There are a few methods to make us aware of our environment and patterns, to trick our brain into showing us the mundane again. Why would we want to? Because we have lower energy around us that is holding us back. So how can we fool our brains into bringing the mundane back into awareness? In your environment: Move your furniture around, change the position of things in your rooms. Suddenly your brain will recognise the newness and start to bring back your awareness to your environment. You might start to notice things that don't work, things that need to be repaired, things that you just don't need anymore, things that you don't even like. Once these come into your awareness, deal with them straight away. Repair them, throw them out, give them away to a charity, ... In your personal habits: Change your routine for a week, go about your day in a different order, take a different route to work, go to a new restaurant instead of the usual, see friends that you haven't seen for a while. Again, this will cause your brain to start to show you your patterns and habits. It will bring them into your awareness so that you can decide whether they are aligned with the you that you want to be, or if you need to release them. Releasing lower energy habits and objects from our lives breaks the energetic ties that we have to our old energy. It allows us to raise our vibration. What can you change today to bring yourself a fresh awareness? I'm Claire Louise Hay, I help you claim your true power to manifest the life of your dreams through self-awareness and alignment with your higher self. Want to work with me? Click here to find out how! We often have many subconscious patterns and habits that do not serve us. These habits stop us from doing, having and being what we really want, yet that they are blocking us is not always obvious to us - because they are subconscious & often our conscious mind disagrees with it. So this week I'd like you all to bring those habits into your conscious awareness, by focusing on them. Choose a habit or pattern that you have that doesn't match the vision of yourself in your best life. It could be eating things that are not healthy for you, putting off exercising, drinking alcohol, taking drugs,... Set an intention to become aware of why you follow this pattern. When this pattern comes up this week ask yourself: "What is the real feeling behind this?" Your unconscious mind will want to tell you that you are doing it for fun, or as a treat, or to make you feel better - that is the ego trickster mind. Go deeper than this. What is the real feeling behind it? Is it that you are feeling down about yourself? Is it that you are feeling stressed and need a release? Is it that you are anxious? Is it that you don't feel worthy of having better? Are you punishing yourself because you feel guilty? Or is it something else? Once you have the real reasons (there may be many throughout the week) for each reason write down a list of things that you could do instead that would ease that feeling instead of following the same unconcsious pattern and do them. Keep this list handy for when the feeling next comes up. You can choose to face and deal with these feelings in a positive, healthy way instead. Let us know how you get along!
